3D Studio Max Tutorial | Bowl and Eggs

In this tutoril I will describe how to quickly model a beautiful bowl and some decorational eggs using 3D Studio Max. The main tool used here will be the lathe tool.

Select the Line Command , make sure the settings are as shown below.

Go to the front viewport and draw a shape similar to the one shown on the left.

Click on the Select and Move tool , then right click on it to show the Move and Transform Dialog box as shown on the left.

Select the highlighted edit points one by one and make sure that the X Absolute World co-ordinates are set to zero (i.e 0.0cm).

Go to the Modifier List and choose Lathe.

Make sure the Direction is Y and the Y co-ordinates is set to zero. This can be set in the bottom as illustrated or as before by clicking on the Select and Move tool , then right clicking on it to show the Move and Transform Dialog box.

To complete the piece I have UVW mapped a marble-like material to Go to the Modifier List and select MeshSmooth. Under Subdivision Method type 3 for Iterations. The eggs are done using the methods described above. the bowl and and eggs and rendered the scene using Brazil.
